5 reasons to use SEMrush: Tools Review

SEMrush Tools
SEMrush Tools
I work with small and medium-sized businesses to help them optimize and maximize their website, usually on a small budget. I was looking for more tools to help my customers maximize their online visibility and give them some ideas about their competitors and their marketing activities. At the same time, they offered me a free trial version of SEMrush that I checked, and now I want to share it with State of Digital readers. Rishi wrote a great review of SEMrush. I'm not going to compete with his 32-page document, but I wanted to highlight some of the main features of the tool, including:
  • Keyword research
  • competition research
  • Site audit
  • Backspace analysis
  • Tools
1) Keyword research
I wanted to find more information about the terms "business travel". I used SEMrush to find keywords in that sentence. Travel with an important budget entry in this key term. SEMrush also clearly separates the terms "business travel". One of the most important things when traveling is to have a guide to discover the new destination. The keyword research tool also allows the user to examine related terms. That means I see not only the coincidence of sentences, but also of terms that I did not originally want to use in my publications. This gives the user a lot of data. In my case, I wanted to find more terms related to "business travel". One of the most important words of interest was "travel guide". Everyone needs a guide when visiting a new place, and sometimes a guide gives information about the cheapest places to eat / drink and the free tourist attractions they can visit. An even better vacation experience. When I clicked the "Travel Guide", SEMrush displays a phrase match report with the related keywords. A user could spend a lot of time getting involved with a keyword and looking for related terms. I chose "travel guide" because "Lonely Planet", which is also a competitor, is one of the key words. I wanted to know more related keywords deepen highlights I know that Lonely Planet is one of the largest websites and as a small travel blog owner it is interesting to analyze the competitors of the travel industry.

2) Competitive research
The second area of SEMrush that I used after seeing the keywords was the competition for the term "travel guide". I wanted to see how Lonely Planet compares to the other travel sites on the market. I clicked Lonely Planet in the screenshot above and was redirected to a page on Lonely Planet. Overview of featured competitors On this page you will find lots of information, including the number of keywords that will attract users to the website (based on the first 20 organic results). It is also interesting to see how much the estimated costs for this would have been for organic transport if it had been paid for. I like the graphic in the top right that shows the site traffic and also a decrease in traffic due to an algorithm update. That way there may be too much information on this page, but that's another reason why I like SEMrush. This is a great overview of a site's performance and it is easy to insert the URL of your own site to see how it compares to others in the market. Remember to delete the http: // in the search box below. Large Circle Competitor I was very interested in the map of competitive positions like you see below It shows the strengths and weaknesses of competition in organic search based on the organic traffic of competitors and the number of keywords for which they rank on Google occupy (in the top 20 positions).

3) Site audit
I really like the overall review functionality of the site, which is part of the SEMrush Tools section. The site audit provides an excellent overview of site traffic. It is also noticeable when the site is subject to a penalty. I found that the site audit tool can be used in three ways:

- Mark penalties

- Pre-launch research to get an estimate of site traffic

- Mark traffic peaks

I haven't seen such a tool except in Searchmetrics, which provides PPC and SEO traffic for a website. Customers love to see how your website and its competitors appear on search engine results pages (SERP). They also appreciate the decrease / spike in traffic that can be caused by a penalty. When working in a court of law, it is important to know whether a customer has been punished and to offer solutions.
Google Penalty

4) Backlink analysis
I spent a lot of time analyzing links for my customers, some were punished, others wanted a link review, which I strongly encourage. For this reason, I wanted to look at the link tool for SEMrush. I usually use MajesticSEO and will not replace it immediately. However, it is good to see other tools on the market and see how they display this data. SEMrush displays tracking links and nofollow links as a pie chart. Domains are also registered according to the TLD, e.g. B. .com, org, .net. Lonely Link Analysis I would use the SEMrush tool when I ran against MajesticSEO to see the data comparison, but I will report on MajesticSEO here.

5) tools
I used the Tools section in SEMrush and selected the Domain vs Domain sidebar. I really like the Venn diagram as shown below when I entered lonelyplanet's competitors in the Domain vs. Domain section of the tools. The section in the Venn diagram shows the number of keywords with which the websites compete. From the Venn diagram, it's easy to see that TripAdvisor.co.uk has the highest number of keywords that don't overlap with other websites. Venn Chart of Competitors When a user clicks the keyword portion of the report, they can view the organic information. Keyword ranking of all competitors. It also shows volume, CPC and competitive density. The results column shows the number of URLs that appear in the organic search results for the keywords. The last column is "trendy", which has been the search engine's interest in the past 12 months.

Conclusion
SEMrush is an extremely useful and adaptable tool that allows users to examine information that is relevant to their customers. It offers a broader picture of the customer industry and underlines the value of SEO in workplace marketing. The keyword research tool, competition audit, and tools section were the most useful things I found in SEMrush. Anyone who works in search engine optimization understands the acceleration of the industry. As such, there are always new tools on the market and sometimes it seems like there are a lot of tools to try out. We are all busy with our work, but even if you have a limited amount of time, I would recommend SEMrush as one of the tools you can use for anyone working on the research. If you've already used SEMrush and have comments, I'd love to hear from you.
