You are rightly of the opinion that reputation marketing is very similar to reputation management. The difference, however, is how you think about your online reputation and how you use your comments in your favor.
Think of it this way: reputation management is a defense, while reputation marketing is offensive. Instead of managing your comments as they appear, use them as part of your overall marketing strategy. They work proactively to get great reviews at all times and use them to promote themselves.

Okay, playing on the offensive is great. But what does that actually mean? Let's dive a little bit more.
The role of social networks.
I don't need to take the time to rethink the growing role social media plays in marketing and to influence consumer behavior these days. We have all seen how social networks have grown in recent years! There is no escape, especially in reputation marketing.
Any place where people can leave comments about their experience with a company or brand can be called a social network. A social network is by definition "a dedicated website or other application that allows users to communicate by posting information, comments, messages, images, etc."
However, the most popular social networks have the greatest impact on your company's reputation. These networks, including Google, Facebook and Yelp, are highly visible in search and can make the difference between people who choose your product or service and go beyond you.
If you haven't claimed or haven't tried to manage your social media profiles, you're far behind.
Monitoring is the key
It is no longer acceptable to leave a bad review (or just a review) behind your opinion. Only a few days in which a bad review has not been answered can be harmful! For this reason, it is important to respond to reviews as soon as they arrive. Especially with the aforementioned increase in social media, people expect a quick reaction, even if it is a notification, not a message.
There are two ways to capture reviews and other endorsements from your company when they appear:
- Use Google Alerts to display mentions of your company on the web. However, please note that this does not always make you aware of new opinions.
- Sign in to Google My Business and make sure you're ready for notifications every time you receive a new notification.
- Do the same for Yelp: get notifications for new reviews.
- Continue to set up notifications for all major review pages. These are different for every branch!

Amplification = marketing
Using your excellent comments to your advantage is an important part of your online reputation marketing campaign. Marketing your business in the words of others can be even more compelling than any of your other marketing campaigns. After all, the local BrightLocal 2018 consumer survey found that 80% of young people between 18 and 34 trust online reviews and personal recommendations. There are many people that you can reach and influence with your comments!There are several awesome ways to expand your comments. Here are some ideas to get started!
- Use comments in your email campaigns. Regardless of the type of email campaign you send, you can add reviews to enhance your marketing efforts by increasing their authenticity. Use them to create graphics or design them in your email in a way that is best for you.
- Post your comments on your website. It's a great idea to find a fun way to add comments to your website. It's okay to hide them on a testimonial page, but if you want them to work more for you, show them in other more important places.
- Use them as social media posts. Excellent ratings make amazing graphics for use in your social media profiles!
- Paste them into your videos. Do you create videos regularly? Maybe I could show a review at the beginning or the end.
- Link to your most important review pages everywhere. If your main review pages are filled with great reviews, link them to as many parties as possible. Add links to the bottom of your website, social media, email, etc.
Online reputation marketing is an important and necessary addition to any internet marketing campaign. Remember, it's like going from defense to attack. You have the advantage of using reputation marketing!
